Where is it?
Our venue is The Nerdy Café, Shrewsbury. Nerdy is a board game café and events venue in Shrewsbury town centre. The address is 49 Mardol, Shrewsbury SY1 1PP. Doors will open from 11am and the event will finish at 7pm.


Is the event child friendly?
There will be books and merchandise on offer that will appeal to a variety of age ranges, however some books cater exclusively to adults only due to language and violent content – please ask our authors on the day for age range guidance and they will be more than happy to assist you! 


Do I need a ticket?
You do not need a ticket to attend however The Nerdy Café is a limited capacity venue. If you wish to secure entry, please consider purchasing a special entry ticket. These cost £2.49 and can be purchased from Eventbrite. Special entry guarantees access to the event and include a standard hot drink from the café menu. Walk-in entry on the day is free but does not include a drink.


Is it accessible?
The Nerdy Café is accessible with award winning, fully enclosed gender free toilets located on the ground floor and wheelchair access available through the side door. Please note, not all activities will take place on the ground floor.

The staff team will be more than happy to help with any access needs you might have. They have baby changing facilities and provide a range of sanitary and baby products free of charge. The accessible toilet has a full bariatric hoist and changing bed with two sinks and plenty of space.


Where is the nearest train station?
Shrewsbury station, Castle Foregate, SY1 2DQ is a short 10-minute walk away.


Is there parking?
The Nerdy Café does not have its own parking, however there are car parks on Bridge Street, St Austen’s Street and Barker Street, all of which are within a 2-to-3-minute walk.


Can I bring my own food and drink?
You cannot bring your own food and drink into the event; the café will be open and serves a full menu with delicious options to suit a range of dietary requirements. Their famous big milkshakes are an absolute must!


How do I get a sellers table?
There are currently a very limited number of sellers tables still available for this event. Tables cost £25.00 for the day. We would be very interested to hear from authors, artists, comic creatives and independent creators who would like to showcase and/or sell their goods. Please note sellers are responsible for their own transactions and money handling. If you are interested in booking a sellers table, please use our contact page. 


How do I become a sponsor?
We welcome support from the community and would love to see more names on our sponsorship list. Sponsorship helps us to cover the costs of the event and keep entry free for those who want to come along and discover their next favourite read. How do I become a speaker?
Our speaker roster for this event is currently full. However, if you are interested in speaking at one of our events, please follow us on Twitter, where we will put out requests and announcements should any speaker spots become available. 


How can I donate a book to The Nerdy Café library?
The Fantasy and Sci-Fi Spotlight is pleased to be supporting The Nerdy Café to build a community library in the café area, where the local community can discover a wide range of new authors and genres. All participating authors will be donating books to the library for use after the event.
